Hi, I’m Helena!

My love for floral design began my freshman year at Mississippi State University at a time where I wasn’t sure of what I wanted to study. When registering for second semester classes, I was bummed to see the fine art I’d originally wanted filled up - however, one class that was available sounded interesting. So, just for fun, I wound up in an introductory floral design course. Shortly thereafter, I made a call to my parents that went something like ‘hey, I’m changing my major, I think I’m going to be a floral designer, oh also I’m entering in a competition this spring + I’d like you to come’. Surprisingly, one of my designs took first place in that competition + basically sealed the deal that this was what I wanted to do with my life.

I constantly say how blessed I am that my passion found me.

In 2021 I graduated with a degree in Horticulture, concentrated in Floral Management - I’m pretty proud of that. No, you don’t have to go to college to be a florist, but it’s something that had to happen for this little ‘happy accident’ career move. I mean, hey, you truly never know where life will take you!

Throughout college + after, I found myself working in flower shops with some incredible mentors, freelancing for brilliant designers (+ friends), eventually getting the courage to go out on a limb + begin something of my own.

All of these experiences led to the creation of Helena Brante Floral Design, built with the idea to curate unforgettable florals + memories for the North Georgia community and beyond.

As for when I’m not doing something floral related - you can find me spending time with my family (+ cat), traveling (HBFD has taken us as far as Colorado Springs!), watching musicals + searching for the best ice cream in Atlanta (if you’ve got recs, send them my way).
