My love for floral design began my freshman year at Mississippi State University at a time of reconsidering what I wanted to study. When registering for classes in the second semester, the fine art I had wanted was full. So, I did what any college kid would do and signed up for the class that was next on the list. Floral Design 101 sounded fun, so why not? Weeks later, I made a call home that went something like “Hey, I’m changing my major.. I think I want to be a florist.. Oh, and I’m entering a competition soon, I’d really like you to come”. Well, my family showed up and, surprisingly, one of my bouquets took first place in that competition. I suddenly had this confidence and feeling that this was the path I was meant to be on.

I constantly say how lucky and blessed I am to have a passion that found me.

In 2021, I graduated with a BS in Horticulture, concentration in Floral Management and minor in Business - I’m pretty proud of that. No, you don’t have to go to college to be a florist, but it’s something that had to happen for this little ‘happy accident’ career move.

Throughout college and post-graduation, I found myself working in flower shops with some incredible mentors, freelancing for brilliant designers (and dear friends), and eventually got the courage to begin something of my own.

Which brings us to Helena Brante Floral Design, established in 2022 to curate unforgettable florals and memories for the North Georgia community and beyond. Outside of our home state, I’ve flowered weddings in Mississippi, Alabama, and even Colorado!

After years of using my parents’ kitchen as a workshop, we decided it was finally time for my business to have a proper home with me. Once we found the perfect little house in Kennesaw, we set up our first official studio in early 2024!

As for the rare occasions when I’m not occupied with flowers.. I’m at the Pilates studio, babysitting, thrift shopping, sorority-advising, eating queso at my favorite restaurant, or at home with my husband, Ben, and our pets! Life is blooming to say the least!
